Did you try adding a simple ionizer bar near your bench? I picked one up for like 20 bucks online and it killed the static cling problem with my mirrors. The filter still sucks for airflow but at least dust isn't sticking anymore.

It's not just about weight either, the chrome on the old stuff doesn't flake off after a few uses. Hit or miss with older things but when you find a good one it's hard to beat.
