Stop telling people to 'just buy rice in bulk' like it's some genius hack

I live in a small apartment with no car and the nearest bulk store is a 45 minute bus ride each way. How am I supposed to haul 20 pounds of rice home, and where exactly does it go in my tiny kitchen?

Stop telling people to 'just buy rice in bulk'" - see that's exactly the problem right there. You're treating it like a one-size-fits-all solution when it's clearly not for everyone. But have you actually tried it? A 45 minute bus ride is annoying but you're acting like it's a death sentence. You can bring a rolling cart or even a sturdy backpack, 20 pounds isn't that crazy if you split it into two trips. And as for storage, get a plastic bin or use the space under your bed. People in tiny apartments all over the world store rice just fine, you just need to get creative instead of shooting down a solid money-saving idea.

Respectfully, I see it a little different. A rolling cart on a 45 minute bus ride through city streets isn't always practical - try navigating a crowded bus with one, or getting it up stairs at the bus stop. Also, "under the bed" storage only works if you have under-bed space, which a lot of tiny apartment beds don't have. And splitting 20 pounds into two trips means you're spending 3 hours total just to buy rice, factoring in the bus there and back each time. Your mileage may vary, but for some of us, that's a whole afternoon gone for one item.

Is it really that serious though? Plenty of people deal with longer bus rides and worse storage situations and still make bulk buying work, it's just about prioritizing what you're willing to deal with. At the end of the day, if saving money on rice isn't worth the hassle for you, that's fine, but don't act like it's some impossible task for everyone else.
