The diner in my hometown charged $3.85 for a full plate in 2004, I went back last month and it's $11.50
I stopped at Rosie's in Marion, Indiana on a drive back from my mom's. Back when I was in nursing school I ate there twice a week, meatloaf, two sides and cornbread for under four bucks. Last month the same plate ran me $11.50 and the cornbread was an extra $2, which felt like a real kick in the teeth. I get that food costs went up, but I keep wondering how families on a tight budget make that math work now. What's the go-to cheap plate where you all live, and has the price jumped on you too?
