Can we talk about the hostel desk guy in Prague who said to book buses at the station instead of online?
He told me the counter price was 340 koruna while the app wanted 500 for the same seat to Vienna. Has anyone else found local counters actually beat the booking sites, or did I just get lucky?

Did you check what the actual bus company charges though? Student Agency and Flixbus both sell seats online for the same price at the counter, the station kiosks are resellers who sometimes have cheap leftover seats but often mark them up. One cheap ticket to Vienna doesn't prove a pattern, you probably just caught a slow Tuesday with unsold seats. Next time try the company's own site first, the apps you're talking about are usually third party sellers taking a cut.
