Warning: Don't trust those "cheap flights" alerts from random apps
I spent 3 hours booking a $32 flight to Chicago through a pop-up deal app, only to find out at the gate that the reservation didn't include a return ticket and they charged me $120 to fix it. It took me over 4 days of calling customer service to finally get a refund for the extra fee. Has anyone else wasted half a vacation budget on a third-party booking nightmare?

Did you try using a regular airline website or calling them directly instead of those apps? I once booked a "free" hotel night through a travel app and ended up paying for a timeshare presentation I didn't want.

Exactly, "right through a travel app" is the trap. Those third party sites make their money on hidden fees and upsells, not on actually giving you a good deal. I'd rather pay a few bucks more direct and know I won't get stuck in a timeshare pitch or some other shady thing.
