Spent 4 months overpaying on bulk cat litter before I checked the unit price

I kept grabbing the 20 pound bag because it FELT like the better deal, but the store brand 14 pound bag was actually 30 cents cheaper per pound. I only figured this out when I finally compared the shelf tags side by side in the Costco aisle. Anyone else caught themselves ignoring the per ounce math for way too long?

Man the whole grocery store is built to hide that math from us. They put the price per ounce in tiny print on the bottom tag, but the big numbers and the size of the bag are what your brain locks onto.
