The grocery store self-checkout trap that cost me $64 in one trip
Last Tuesday at the Kroger on 5th Ave, I scanned two bags of frozen berries but the scale misread them as one, so I paid for half. Got home, checked the receipt, and realized the system does this all the time with produce and frozen stuff, not just me. I started weighing everything I scan now, before it hits the bag area, and I caught three more mistakes in the same cart, totaling $64. The store manager said they 'audit the scales weekly' but my receipt said otherwise, so I filed a complaint with the county weights office. Has anyone else caught these silent overcharges, or do you just eyeball the screen while scanning? I'm thinking about bringing my own pocket scale next time.
