I realized my weekly spread was making me less productive, not more
I saw a friend's simple one-page list and got more done in a day than I had all week with my complex layout. Anyone else find that simpler is actually better for focus?

Yeah, I feel that... my whole setup used to be color-coded and I'd spend forever picking the right stickers. Totally get what @wren230 said about hiding from real work. It's like the planner becomes the project instead of your actual life. Now I just scribble three things on a sticky note and somehow that works better. All that fancy stuff was just a pretty distraction.

Isn't it funny how we make things harder for ourselves? I had the same exact problem, and I agree with what emma_rodriguez30 said about the planner becoming the project. I was so busy making my weekly spread look perfect that I was just avoiding the actual tasks. Now I use a basic notepad and it feels like a weight is off my shoulders. All that effort was just for show.

Oh the irony of spending more time decorating the planner than actually doing the things you wrote in it. Been there, done that, bought the washi tape. My bullet journal used to look like a museum exhibit, but my to-do list never got touched. Now I just use a cheap notebook and a pen that works. The fancier the system, the easier it is to hide from real work.
