My bullet journal got soaked in my backpack during a rainstorm on the L train and I almost quit the whole hobby
So last Thursday I'm riding the L from Brooklyn into Manhattan, right, and it's pouring. Some dude with a soaked umbrella gets on at Bedford Ave and shakes it out right next to me, water flies everywhere, and my backpack is sitting on the floor between my feet with the top unzipped like an idiot. By the time I got to Union Square my whole journal was a soggy brick, 4 months of daily logs and habit trackers just bleeding into each other, ink running down the pages like some sad watercolor. I almost threw the thing in a trash can on 14th Street, seriously. Instead I sat down at a cafe, spent $6 on a coffee just to use their table, and tore out every wet page one by one and rebuilt the whole thing from memory over the next 3 hours. Turns out I didn't actually need 80% of what I wrote down, which is a pretty brutal thing to learn about your own system. Now I only carry one pen and one thin notebook and I keep the backpack zipped even when it's sunny. Has anyone else had their journal get wrecked and did you rebuild it or just start fresh?
Dropped mine in a puddle outside a coffee shop last winter and watched a whole year of mood trackers turn into gray mush, so yeah, been there. Rebuilt it too, and same deal, half the stuff I stressed over copying back over was junk I never looked at again. Now my journal lives in a ziplock bag inside my bag like it's a sandwich, no shame.
