PSA: I duplicated a bullet journal spread and lied about it

I found a really nice monthly tracker on a blog. I copied the whole thing into my journal. My friend saw it and asked if I came up with it myself. I said yes, but that felt wrong. Now I'm not sure what the right thing to do is.

But is copying layouts really that serious? @brooke_jones mentioned BuzzFeed's style guide, and that shows it's pretty normal. Lots of blogs use the same basic setups because they just work well. It's not like stealing someone's actual writing or pictures. If the content is your own, the layout is just a box to put it in. So why do people get so upset about this? What makes one layout so special anyway?
