The notary who refused to stamp my LLC paperwork taught me something
Last March at a UPS store in Austin, this older notary looked at my formation docs and said 'you sure you want a single member LLC?' and then spent 10 minutes explaining how Texas franchise tax hits different for solo owners. I mean, I thought it was just a stamp and go thing. Has anyone else had a notary or clerk actually talk you out of a setup before you filed?
That notary did you a solid honestly. Back when I set up my LLC, a lady at the county clerk's office flagged that I was about to file as a partnership without a written agreement between us. Saved me from a nasty fight with my business partner later. Sometimes those folks see the same mistakes all day and just want to spare you the headache.
