Vent: A client brought in a contract lawyer who ripped my invoice to shreds
She pointed out I had no clause about change orders for extra yard work, and I lost $800 on that job because I couldn't charge for the extra trees I planted after the original scope. Has anyone else gotten burned by a missing clause in their service agreements?

That's exactly what changed my mind too (lost a chunk on extra digging myself).

69 bucks an hour for a lawyer to tell me my handshake deal on a fence repair was worthless. The whole thing fell apart because I didn't write down that the neighbor wanted the posts sunk two feet deeper than usual. Now I just use a template I found online that has a spot for "extra digging" and a firm price for every type of tree or bush I plant.
