Hit a surprising milestone with my old running shoes
I finally checked the odometer on my sneakers last week, they hit 412 miles. I kept thinking I'd replace them around 300 but time got away from me and my knees felt fine the whole time. The tread is still decent too, which makes me wonder if the whole 300 mile rule is just marketing nonsense. Anyone else pushed a pair way past the recommended limit without issues?
Man, 412 is wild but honestly not that crazy if your knees are happy. I've had pairs go past 500 before I finally tossed them, and the real thing that kills shoes is the midsole foam breaking down, not the tread. If you start feeling little aches in your shins or hips after runs, thats your sign to swap them out, but til then just enjoy the free miles.
