Client told me my drawer slides were too loud, changed how I install them now
Had a job last month where this lady in Portland said the soft close sounded like a truck backing up. I was using standard side mounts with no dampening strips. Switched to undermount slides with built in buffers and now I put a thin felt strip on the back of each drawer box before installing. Feels like a small thing but it totally killed the noise. Anyone else run into picky clients about sound and find a fix that sticks?

Loud soft close sounds like a truck backing up" - yeah, people are getting crazy picky about every little noise now, ain't they?

Had a customer last year who complained my drawer slides sounded like a cat hissing. I was just using the standard ball bearing ones at the time. She made me come back three times before I figured out the fix. I ended up putting a small rubber bumper on the back of each drawer face and swapping to the soft close undermounts. That did the trick and she finally shut up about it. It's crazy how people notice stuff like that now, but honestly it makes you a better worker in the long run.

... wait, hold on. Truck backing up? That's wild. I mean, I've had clients complain about stuff before but comparing a drawer slide to a diesel engine backing into a loading dock is a whole new level. Makes me wonder what kind of crazy stuff people hear in their kitchens these days. Was she standing there with a decibel meter or something?
