My uncle told me to skip the dado stack for face frames

He said a good router table with a straight bit was just as fast and more flexible. I tried it on a kitchen job last month with 32 frames. It took me almost three hours longer than my buddy who used his dado set. The router needed two passes per joint and the setup kept shifting. Has anyone else found dado stacks to be the clear winner for this?

Your uncle's method sounds like a pain.

Maybe your uncle's way works for him, but I'm totally with @eva_moore on this one. Dado stacks are just way faster and more solid for that kind of repeat work.

Yeah, I tried my uncle's way once and it took forever. Ended up switching to a dado stack like @eva_moore said and it was a total game changer for those cuts. What setup are you using?
