Finally got through a full week in the new apartment complex without a single callback

This past week I was assigned to the new Riverwalk complex downtown, all fresh builds with zero existing wiring. Usually that means a bunch of little problems pop up after the first day, like a bad fitting or a signal drop that needs a second visit. For once, everything just worked. I ran about 25 drops, all RG6 quad shield with proper wall plates, and my meter readings were solid across the board. The super even commented that the cable runs in the utility closets looked clean, which never happens. It's a small thing, but after a string of tough jobs with old, messed up conduit, it felt good to have a smooth run. Anyone else get a nice, straightforward new construction job lately?

Oh man, that's the best feeling! Those clean slate jobs are a total gift after dealing with old rat's nests. I always double-check my compression fittings on the first outlet and the very last one I do, just to make sure my tool didn't drift at all during the day. It sounds like you nailed it though, and a compliment from the super is the real win. Enjoy that smooth week!

Yeah that double-check is so smart, it's crazy how a tool can feel perfect all day but the temperature change or just your grip shifting throws it off a tiny bit. I've started doing a quick test crimp on a scrap piece at the start, middle, and end of a big run for that exact reason. It adds like two minutes and saves a potential callback. Getting that nod from the super is the best, means you're doing the little things right.

Always test on scrap first... saves so much hassle.
