Serious question, overheard a guy at the supply house say he never grounds the tap at the pole

He claimed it saves 15 minutes on a standard install, but that just sounds like a major code violation waiting to happen. Anyone ever push back on a shortcut like that?

Did you see that post too, emma_baker61? My first thought was that I'd probably be the one to accidentally cause a stray voltage problem.
