Serious question, what do you do when a crawl space is full of bees?

Had a job in Phoenix last week where the drop was under a house, and I opened the access panel to a nest the size of a basketball. I just closed it up, called the homeowner, and told them they needed an exterminator before I could touch anything. Ever had to walk away from a job like that?

That basketball sized nest in Phoenix sounds like a real problem. Did the homeowner actually get the exterminator, or did they try some DIY solution first? I've seen people try to smoke them out with a shop vac hose, which never ends well.

The shop vac method just gives them a free ride to your attic.

Oh my gosh, that shop vac idea is a total upgrade for the wasps! They get a free trip to the nice, warm attic instead of being stuck outside. I can just picture someone up there later, hearing a whole new buzzing condo complex in their walls. It's like paying to make your problem way, way worse. Some DIY plans are just a fast track to calling the real exterminator anyway.
