Question about cleaning old lens elements

Honestly, I was cleaning a 50mm f/1.8 from the 70s last week and tried using a standard microfiber cloth first. Ngl, it just smeared the old grease. Switched to a proper lens tissue with a drop of ROR solution and it came off clean in one pass. The tissue didn't leave any fibers behind like the cloth did. Anyone have a better method for really stubborn haze on older glass?

Yeah, that ROR stuff is solid. For the really baked-on haze, a tiny bit of lighter fluid on a q-tip can work. Just be super gentle, don't soak it.

Heard a whisper about using pure acetone for that.
