Used to fix these in 20 minutes flat. Now it's a full afternoon.

Back in 2009 I could overhaul a Pentax K1000 in about 20 minutes. Shutter, mirror box, all of it. Now with the newer mirrorless stuff it's all circuit boards and ribbon cables. Last week I spent four hours on a Sony A7II just tracing a stuck shutter button to a bad flex cable. Found it buried under the sensor mount. Anyone else feel like mechanical cameras were the golden age?

Man I feel this in my bones. There was something so honest about a camera where you could see every single part doing its job, you know? Like if something broke you could trace it with your eyes and your hands. Now it's all black boxes and prayers. And those flex cables, jeez, they're the worst. One little kink and the whole camera turns into a brick. I don't even try to fix my newer stuff anymore, I just send it out and wait two weeks. That A7II story gave me flashbacks to a Fuji I had to tear down to find a loose connector behind the IBIS unit. You're not alone in missing the old days, trust me.

@the_alice ever hit that point where you just stare at the exploded diagram and think, I'd rather buy a new one?
