Best campsite I ever had was also the worst 3 days ever
I spent a week at a spot in the Smokies last June where the weather was perfect but a family of raccoons stole half my food on night two. Does the perfect gear matter if you can't keep a raccoon out of your cooler?

Used to laugh at people who bought those expensive bear-proof coolers. Thought they were just wasting money on gear they didn't need. Then a raccoon in Colorado unzipped my tent, stole my breakfast bag, and came BACK for my snacks while I was INSIDE the tent. That changed my mind REAL quick. Now I spend the extra cash on a good cooler lock and a proper food storage bag, and honestly it's worth every penny.
