DAE's office small talk turn into gear talk after going remote?
Honestly, since my team started working from home, our weekly calls have shifted. Tbh, we used to complain about deadlines, but now someone always brings up a new tent or cooker they saw. Ngl, it began when a coworker shared a long review on a rain jacket in our group chat. Now we spend half the time swapping tips on lightweight stuff for trips. It's funny how work changes what you chat about.

Still using my battered old backpack, should I even join in?

My sandals are literally held together with duct tape, so I feel you on the beat-up gear. That backpack of yours has character, @jordan_henderson13. Are you worried it won't look cool or that it might fall apart mid-walk? Honestly, a little wear just shows you actually use your stuff. What's the real reason you're hesitating to join in?

Duct tape on sandals can get soggy in rain, Wendy. But for backpacks, worn straps might be a real safety issue (like things falling out). Jordan, if the zippers work and it holds shape, it's probably fine to join in. The real worry might be if it's actually falling apart, not just looking old.
