Pro tip: I finally learned how to pack my tent the right way

I was always just stuffing it in the sack after a trip, which took forever. A friend in Bend pointed out my tent poles were bent from the pressure, and showed me how to fold it loosely first. How do you guys pack your tents to avoid damage?

What took you so long to figure that out? I learned the hard way after crushing a pole in my car door.

Folding loosely still puts pressure on the poles, though.

But how much pressure are we talking about... like is it enough to actually bend the pole over time, or just scuff it up a bit?

My old Coleman tent poles got a permanent curve after a few seasons of just rolling the tent up.
