Read about a guy in Scotland who said his heavy old tent saved him when a storm wrecked lighter ones nearby. Sometimes that extra weight just means it won't fly away.

Remember when my buddy took that ancient canvas tent to Bonnaroo? Wind ripped through the nylon ones nearby but his just sat there like a brick.

Noticed the same thing with my old canvas backpacking pack. That extra weight just makes stuff handle the weather better, you know? Kinda makes you rethink always going for the lightest gear.
