I finally started watching apology videos with the sound off, and it changed how I score them
Two months ago I watched every word and got sucked in by the shaky voice, now I mute it and just read the transcript for a dollar amount or a name, and I'm honestly not sure which way is fair: is the crying proof, or is the missing dollar amount the real tell?
Muting it and reading the words instead is the move. The shaky voice is just acting, anyone can turn that on. Real tells are in the plain text: does it name the thing they did, does it say who got hurt, is there a number or a date or a specific action. If the whole thing is feelings with no facts, that's your answer. Try scoring them on a napkin: one point for a real admission, one for a number, one for what they're doing about it. Crying gets zero points because it costs nothing to fake.
