I totally wrote off that influencer's apology video as fake until I saw the receipts

I mean, when that lifestyle vlogger from Austin posted her 'I've changed' video after the old tweets surfaced, I rolled my eyes. It felt super scripted. But then she actually donated 50k to the local LGBTQ+ center she'd made fun of and posted the bank transfer confirmation. Now I'm not sure if it's real growth or just good PR. Has anyone else had an apology they thought was fake turn out to be backed by real action?

Fifty thousand dollars is a real number that makes me stop. That's not just talk, that's a down payment on a house. I still think the video was PR, but putting that kind of money where your mouth is changes things. It forces you to actually hurt your wallet, which feels more real than crying on camera. I guess the action is what proves it, even if the feelings are fake.

But is fifty grand really that much to them? Might not hurt as bad as you think.

Down payment on a house" says it all, @nathankim. That's real pain.
