That actress who said she 'didn't know' about the director's behavior - is her apology real or just a play to save her next movie deal?
She posted a 3 minute video on Instagram last Tuesday saying she was 'deeply sorry' and 'taking accountability' but then her publicist leaked that she's already signed on for two more films with the same studio, so is she actually sorry or just trying to keep her career afloat while the director takes the fall?

Learned this the hard way watching a buddy in a band issue a public apology for some messed up stuff his label did, then he immediately dropped a new album on the same label. Real apologies come with actions that hurt, like turning down work or stepping back publicly, not with press leaks about future deals. If she was truly sorry, she'd probably take a small break or donate some of that paycheck to a cause related to the behavior, not just film a sad video and cash in. Feels like she's trying to have it both ways and it almost never works long term.

That's a fair point. The label buddy thing proves actions matter way more than words.

That line about "actions that hurt" really stuck with me, @wader71. Do you think the public actually has the power to enforce those kinds of consequences, or are we just shouting into the void while they keep cashing checks? Seems like the only way to really make change is to stop streaming and buying, but most people won't do that.
