Read a study once that found people who make internal moves report higher engagement. Your mileage may vary, but it seems like a fresh start can work wonders. Glad it worked out for you!

The first 90 days in a new unit are everything for setting the tone. I made a point to learn the unwritten rules and who actually gets things done. That early effort pays off for years in better shifts and calls.

Wait, you can actually figure out the unwritten rules on purpose? I always thought you just got in trouble a few times and learned the hard way. The idea of someone mapping out who really gets things done in the first 90 days is kind of wild to me. That takes a level of focus I definitely never had starting a new job. Sounds smart but honestly a little intense.

Have you ever considered that maybe it's just about paying attention? I don't see it as some big plan, you just notice who people listen to and how things really work. If you don't pick up on that stuff, you end up making dumb mistakes or slowing everyone down. It's not about being intense, it's about not being clueless. For some jobs, learning the ropes is just part of showing up. Calling it wild makes it sound way harder than it actually is.
