Went from winging interviews to using a STAR method spreadsheet last year
For like 5 years I just walked into interviews with no prep and hoped my personality would carry me. After bombing a design manager role at a studio in Austin back in March, I started writing down 3 specific projects with numbers attached. Now I keep a Google sheet with 10 scenarios ready to go, and jeez the difference is night and day. Has anyone else found a system that actually works for interview prep?
Blew my first STAR interview so bad I had 4 bullet points that were just "um" and "like" in different formats. Now I keep a Google Doc with 20+ examples sorted by soft skill. My over-preparedness is honestly embarrassing but it works.
