Vent: I fixed a squeaky stair with a bar of soap and now my whole crew thinks I'm a wizard
Had a client in Council Bluffs with a staircase that sounded like a haunted house every time someone walked up. Pulled the treads, checked the stringers, shimmed one spot, still squeaked. Guy was ready to rip the whole thing out. My old boss used to rub a bar of soap in drawer slides so I grabbed a hotel soap from my truck and rubbed it along the seam where the tread meets the riser. Quiet as a library. Took 2 minutes. Now the crew calls me the soap guy and I've been asked to do it at 4 other jobs. Anybody else got a dumb cheap fix that works better than the right way?
