That kills me because every single article I read back then said it was at that fancy hotel, and people were literally booking rooms there hoping to spot celebs. The 3 day gap thing is wild too, like that's such a specific detail that would be hard to fake. I usually just google the claim plus "snopes" first, but for anything legal like a marriage license you really do have to go straight to the county clerk. Santa Barbara has their records search online now so you don't even have to call, just type the name and the date range and it pulls right up. Your cousin owes you an apology at this point honestly.
