That $75 'verified' blue check turned out to be worthless in my Instagram DMs

I paid $75 for a verified badge on Instagram back in March thinking it would cut down on spam messages from bots. Instead, I got three times more scam offers for crypto and fake modeling gigs within a week. The verification did nothing to filter them out, and Instagram support just sent me a generic canned reply. Has anyone else found that paying for verification actually made their inbox worse instead of better?

Did you get any actual perks from it besides the badge? My buddy paid for it on Twitter and said the same thing, his DMs got way worse with spam.

I muted all my notifications for that badge and just used it to get into the blue check only subreddit.
