Blew a $300 motor on my drill this morning because I forgot to clean the ash out of the vents

I was running a brush through a tight flue on a job near Oak Street and the drill just seized up on me, now I gotta decide if I buy a replacement or try to strip it down and fix the windings myself.

Can you even fix those motors without burning your whole shop down?

Wait, @the_miles have you actually tried the trick with the capacitor discharge first? I had a similar issue with an old treadmill motor and just focused on keeping everything dry and grounded. It's all about patience and not rushing the cleaning, you know what I mean?
