I used to think those little solar chargers were just a gimmick

Honestly, I bought a small one for a camping trip in Joshua Tree last spring mostly as a backup, expecting it to be useless. It was just a basic fold-out panel, maybe the size of a book. But after leaving it on a rock for a few hours, it fully topped up my phone and a headlamp battery. That completely changed my view on small-scale solar. Now I keep it in my car's emergency kit and it's saved me a couple times when my car battery was low. It's not going to power a house, but it showed me that practical, personal renewable tech is actually here and works. Has anyone else had a simple piece of gear shift how you see a bigger solution?

So you think that's cool, wait until you try a small solar setup for a shed or a tiny house. It's the same idea, just bigger. That little panel proves the whole system works on a basic level. Makes you wonder why we aren't putting these on every new building from the start, right? Like, start small and just add more. The tech is clearly good enough.

Tried to install one myself and nearly electrocuted the neighbor's cat. Guess that's why they don't let me near the big projects.

Wait, the cat lived, right? @emma_baker61, you can't just leave that detail hanging.

But it's still just a shed, right? The math gets weird when you scale up for a whole house. You need batteries, permits, and the upfront cost is huge. It's not as simple as slapping more panels on a roof.
