Just wasted $60 on a fancy insulated lunch bag that barely keeps anything cold for 3 hours
I bought this 'eco-friendly' cooler bag from a local shop in Austin thinking I'd reduce plastic waste from takeout, but honestly it's useless for my shift and now I'm back to disposable bags while looking for one that actually works.

Hardly keeps anything cold for 3 hours" - yeah that's rough, but you might be expecting too much from an "eco-friendly" bag unless it's got actual thick insulation. Most of those trendy Austin shop bags are just canvas with a thin liner, not meant for all day shifts. Look for something with at least 1 inch of foam padding on all sides, not just a shiny reflective layer inside. The cheap ones look nice on Instagram but they can't handle real temperature control.

Check if the bag has a "cold retention" rating or test - most of these hipster brands skip that because they know it'd be embarrassing.

Used to roll my eyes at people complaining about eco-friendly bags being useless, but this one actually changed my mind. Got the same kind of bag from that same shop and watched my lunch go from cold to room temp before my first break even ended. The whole "eco-friendly" label is just marketing hype when the bag can't do the one thing it's supposed to do.
