Spent 6 hours figuring out why my rain barrel wasn't filling up
I installed this rain barrel last spring in Portland thinking it would be simple. Took me 6 hours across two weekends to realize the downspout diverter was clogged with leaves and a dead mouse. Anyone else have a simple climate project turn into a half day headache?

It's like every simple home project hides a dead mouse inside it. I've noticed that anything labeled "easy install" just means you'll get to learn something new about your house the hard way.

Do you really think all "easy install" stuff is cursed though? Honestly I've had pretty good luck with most of it. Tbh a lot of times people just rush through the directions or skip steps because they think they know better. Ngl I've learned that reading the manual twice before touching any tools saves me from finding those "dead mice" most of the time. Some projects really are simple you just have to slow down and not assume the worst.

You've got a good point there. Reading through the manual twice is something I learned the hard way after a few projects went sideways on me. Taking that extra time to slow down really does save a lot of headaches later on.
