Was baffled by inconsistent part dimensions until I checked the vise

I was getting parts out of spec and was totally stumped. Saw the vise wasn't clamping right, so I cleaned the jaws and tweaked the pressure. Boom, everything's perfect now. Realized how easy it is to skip simple checks. No more wasted material!

Classic fix. Glad you caught it before wasting more material.

Wasted material is the worst.

Honestly, that seems like a weird thing to get hung up on. If your parts are out of spec, the machine or the tooling is the first place to look, not some basic clamp. It's way more likely to be a programming error or a worn-out bit. Fixing the vise is just putting a band-aid on a bigger problem (you know, the real root cause). You probably just got lucky this time and the next batch will have the same issues. Skipping simple checks is how you find the actual broken part.

Totally, vise issues are sneaky. Good thing you checked it.
