I used to say skip tutorials and just build stuff, until my neighbor in Boise showed me his broken calculator app
He spent 3 months jumping between projects without ever finishing the docs on loops, and watching him debug a simple for loop by guessing for 40 minutes made me realize that "just build" only works if you already know the basics.
