My first coding bootcamp project was a total mess and that's fine

I just finished my first group project at a 12-week bootcamp in Austin. Our team built a to-do list app and the code was so spaghetti I could barely read my own stuff. Our instructor said it's normal for beginners to write ugly code. Is that true or should I be worried about bad habits sticking?

My to-do list had a delete button that created new tasks instead.

Wait, deleting things actually ADDED more work? That's like some kind of reverse garbage disposal where the trash multiplies instead of going away. I had a similar issue with my old coding project back in college @ruby659, my undo button would just randomly undo three steps instead of one. The whole thing was a nightmare of misplaced conditionals and variables that forgot what they were storing halfway through. Makes you appreciate how much thought goes into even the simplest looking features, doesn't it?

Built a to-do list app that was basically held together with hopes and dreams. My functions were so nested and messy they looked like a family tree for a soap opera. The instructor probably said that to keep us from crying on the first day. But honestly, if you can look at your old code and cringe, that means you're learning. What was the most embarrassing thing in your project?
