Spent 45 minutes stuck because I forgot to save my Python file

I was at my kitchen table in Boise last Tuesday working through a beginner tutorial on while loops, and my program kept running the old code no matter what I changed. After retyping the whole thing twice, I finally noticed I never hit save in VS Code, so it was running the file from before my edits. Has anyone else done this, or is there a setting that auto-saves so I stop wasting time?
