My buddy handed me a stack of Groo comics in 7th grade and 30 years later I still blame him for my long boxes
That was 1993 in Akron, and I just found those same beat up issues at a garage sale for $2 each, which got me wondering what single comic someone handed you that got you hooked?
Oh man, Groo is such a great one to get sucked in by too, those Sergio Aragones pages are like a trap. Funny thing is this pattern shows up everywhere, not just comics. Someone hands you one thing, a tape, a book, a dumb little game, and suddenly it's thirty years later and you've got a whole shelf of it. I swear that's just how getting into anything works, one person you trust enough to try the thing they love. Two bucks a pop at a garage sale is fate telling you to buy your own copies back, honestly.
