Thought variant covers were a scam until I found a $4 copy of Batman 608 at a garage sale in Fresno
In 2019 I told a guy at my local shop in Fresno that paying extra for a Jim Lee variant was the dumbest thing in the hobby. He just smiled and said ask me again in ten years. Fast forward to last spring, I'm digging through a milk crate at a garage sale two blocks from my house. There it is. Batman 608, second print, the one that kicked off the whole variant craze. Lady wanted a dollar, I gave her four because I felt bad. Took it to the shop and my guy almost fell off his stool. So now I've got a longbox full of variant covers and I don't know if I'm a collector or a sucker. How many of you actually chase these things, and do you buy them to read or just to flip?
