Am I the only one who still keeps a physical logbook of every repair I do?

Had a guy come in last week who remembered I fixed his laptop 4 years ago and I flipped back to page 87 and told him exactly which RAM stick was bad and he just stared at me like I was a wizard.

Had a buddy lose his whole phone and all his notes, wish he kept paper.

Start feeling that pain for your buddy. I've been there with losing digital stuff and it SUCKS. Paper doesn't crash, doesn't get lost when your phone takes a swim, and doesn't need a password. I've saved my own hide more than once flipping through old pages when a customer's memory was fuzzy. There's just something solid about having that info right there in your hand, no batteries required.

wader71's right about the phone thing. Had a buddy lose his whole phone with all his notes and customer info, and he was basically starting from scratch. Paper just sits there, doesn't need updates or backups. I've got a logbook from 2012 still holding up fine in a filing cabinet, while my old phone from that year is toast and the cloud account got wiped. That feeling of paging through and finding a repair from a random Tuesday five years ago beats scrolling through a dead app any day.
