Client site in Cleveland made me ditch my old backup routine

Went to a small law office last Tuesday. Their server died and the last backup was 11 days old. They had a tape drive nobody checked. Lost a whole week of case files. Now I verify every backup onsite before I leave. Anyone else seen this kind of silent failure?
