Had to choose between a full reimage or a 4-hour malware hunt for a client's office PC. I picked the hunt.

I always thought that was a weird take, but @ericw93, your post made me reconsider. Tracking a real problem in the wild gives you a feel for its behavior you just can't get from a textbook. It's a different kind of lesson.

But how often does that actually matter? Most people just run antivirus and call it a day. Dianam19, you get that feel for behavior, sure, but is it needed? It's like learning to fix a car engine when you just need to change a tire. The blog makes it sound like a spy mission, but most malware is boring and gets cleaned by a scan.
