Unpopular opinion: That one insane day with 23 virus infections was actually the best thing that happened to our shop
Last Tuesday we had a client bring in a single laptop from a law office in Austin. Turned out it was packed with 23 different infections including a nasty cryptolocker variant. Spent 11 hours straight cleaning it and rebuilding files from backup. The other side is that a day like that can completely wreck your schedule for the whole week. Has anyone else had a nightmare job that ended up teaching you more than a hundred easy fixes?

23 different infections? Holy hell, that's basically a whole ecosystem of malware fighting for resources on one drive.

Buddy of mine runs a small repair shop and got a laptop from a real estate agent with like 30 different malware strains. Took him two days to sort it all out, but he said he learned more about file recovery and malware removal in that one job than the whole year before.
