Hot take: I just found out concrete sets way faster in dry heat than I ever thought

I was reading an old trade manual from the 80s my boss gave me, and it said a 4-inch slab can lose over 30% of its workable time once the air temp hits 90 degrees. I always knew it was harder, but that number shocked me. How do you guys in places like Arizona even keep up with a bull float?

Spray it down with water before you even start floating.

Yeah that's wild. Reminds me of a time we had to pour a small patio in July, felt like we were racing the sun. Had a guy just mixing and another just floating, no breaks.

Spraying it down first can actually trap the heat and make it set even faster.
