Trowel sizes changed everything for me after 7 years
I used to run the same 36 inch mag for everything, big driveways and small walkways alike. Then a older finisher in Omaha told me to switch to a 48 inch for the big pours and a 24 for the tight stuff. My knees and back stopped screaming by the end of the day, and the surface came out flatter too. Took me way too long to realize one size dont fit all. Has anyone else made a similar switch and noticed a difference in how the concrete settles?

That older finisher gave you solid advice and it goes even deeper than trowel size. The blade pitch and the speed you run matter just as much once you match the right width. A 48 on a big pour lets you cover ground before the cream sets, so you are not fighting it, and the 24 gets into corners without burning the edges. What most guys miss is that the bigger pan also floats the slab more evenly because your passes overlap better. Mixing sizes means you are working with the concrete instead of against it, and your body pays way less for it. Wish somebody had told me that in year one instead of year seven, lol.
