Rant: I saw a guy in a Denver coffee shop try to 'prove' the moon landing was fake with a paperclip and a napkin

I was grabbing a latte last Thursday and this dude at the next table started loudly explaining his theory to his friend. He bent a paperclip into a hook, stuck it through a napkin, and said 'see, the flag wouldn't wave!' like it was some huge gotcha. The barista just rolled her eyes and kept steaming milk. It was so absurd I almost choked on my drink. Now whenever I hear a wild claim, I picture that paperclip demonstration and it makes me question the source way more. Has anyone else had a conspiracy theory 'proof' moment that was just hilariously bad?

Honestly that paperclip thing is a pretty solid visual. Tbh most people just repeat what they heard on TV without testing it themselves. Gotta respect someone trying to show their work even if it sounds crazy.

Testing it yourself is how you find real answers.

But sometimes you can't test everything yourself, right? Like you gotta trust experts who spent years studying stuff. If we all had to prove every fact from scratch, nobody would get anything done. The paperclip thing might look cool but it doesn't mean it's good science. Relying only on your own tests can make you miss a lot of bigger picture info.
