My clipper died mid fade on a Saturday and I finished the taper with a $19 backup from the pharmacy
So last Saturday I'm 20 minutes into a bald fade on a regular and my main clipper just stops, no warning, dead in my hand. This was at my chair in the shop on 5th, 2pm, walk-ins stacked up waiting. I grabbed the cheap backup I keep in my drawer, the one I got at the pharmacy for $19 about a year back, and honestly it got me through the taper better than I expected. Back when I started, we had one set of Osters and you oiled them and prayed, so maybe I'm just old, but I never used to think about a second pair. What's your real backup plan when your main tool goes down halfway through a cut?
Cheap backup beats no backup every time. Keep two real clippers on the shelf, not one, and a spare blade set too. The $19 one saved your cut but it won't last a week of fades. Dead clipper mid cut is a walk of shame nobody needs.
